A Sunderland business services start-up has announced it is bringing new jobs to the city.
Procure Smart is based at Sunderland Software Centre and has created five new roles following a successful first year of trade.
The roles are in business development and sales as the contract switching firm looks to expand its customer base.
Procure Smart is developing disruptive technology to allow businesses to take more control of their outgoing costs, alongside a thriving people-led consultancy division.
Since moving to the city in March 2023, Procure Smart has expanded its operation to 34 employees across two units within Sunderland Software Centre; and is now moving from start-up to scale-up.
Craig Shields, Managing Director at Procure Smart, said: “We have been discussing this possibility for a while and have decided that now is the time to make these roles available to facilitate our goals for 2024.
“We have achieved a lot in our first year. Our team have delivered more than 1,000 business service contract switches and we have begun development on exciting new
products that will launch in 2024. This offers the potential to create further jobs in technology, marketing, financial and data-based roles.
“We have already launched a new renewables division, which offers a turnkey service for businesses looking to lower their carbon emissions and energy costs.
“We’ve been pleased with the support we’ve received from the Council’s Business Investment Team since we decided to locate the business in Sunderland. We had options on where to set up and were blown away by the long-term vision for the city centre. It is a revolution we want to be a part of and contribute to.”
Councillor Graeme Miller, leader of Sunderland City Council, said: “We’re delighted that the work of our ambitious council is helping to attract businesses to Sunderland, creating jobs and opportunities for our residents. We wish Procure Smart every success, as it continues to develop and grow in our city.”
Procure Smart has welcomed enquiries for informal discussions around the new sales and business development roles, which can be applied for on the company’s website at: https://procuresmart.com/careers/
